Hello everyone.

Does anyone use Deja Vu X?  I have used it for the past few years and find it irreplaceble to my translating buisness.  I like it for several reasons:

- It doesn't use an external program.  Many CAT tools are Microsoft Word add-ons.  DVX imports all of its projects from Word, PowerPoint, etc.

- It is database oriented.  This means that the user is able to organize terminology and other information in a personalized way.

- It has been on the market for several years and has a wide number of users.  There are some good discussion groups, at Yahoo, for instance where people will be glad to answer any of your questions.

Lastly, the program is constantly being updated with user input.  This is important when selecting a CAT tool.  You do not want to invest in an application which is later discontinued as sometimes is the case.

If you would like to test drive Deja Vu X, I recommend that you download the Professional version at www.atril.com.

Hi, thanks for the link to dowload a DejàVu version.

I read your info, since I am looking for a CAT tool to buy. I am not a pro at computing, I do not live in a large city where I could get training on these CAT tool and I do not have that much time to spent on learning, because translation is taking a lot of my time. Is this CAT Tool easy to learn? Compare to SDLX and TRADOS?

Most Agencies uses TRADOS, why? And speaking of money, is it worth th price?

Thanks,

Christiane

I have four CAT tools, Trados 7.5, SDLX, Star Transit XV Professional and Deja Vu X. Among these tools, Deja Vu is my favourite; first of all it is a user friendly and easy-to-learn tool. There is a Deja Vu group in yahoo groups, I am also a member to other CAT groups too, but it seems to me that most of the DV users have tested other CAT tools and then decided to use DV. It is a superior program, why don't you try it for 30 days (demo version with full features available). You may translate Trados files with Deja Vu, become a member of Deja Vu group and you will get any information on translating Trados files with Deja Vu.

hello!

I am planning to invest in a new computer and in DVX finally. Could someone tell me if DVX is compatible with Macintosh?

Thanks in advance

Déjà vu is better known to me as a format for e-books just like pdf. This one comes with a file extension ‘.djvu’.  I am a little surprised toknow that it is actually professional translating software. I think there issomething common with the file format and the translator. From the description,Déjà vu X seems to be handy software developed by Free Software Societybecause only that kind of software takes user inputs and updates it. Thanks forthe download link.
