Hi,who could explain me the difference of these both - mentioned above - sofware ? I didn't have the use of whatever software untill now, because small projects, but I would like to buy one for bigger projects with repetition. Which one would you suggest me ? Well if this automated translator does translations (apparently of any length!?!?) in one hour at .07 per word, then we may as well as quit and go home!
What is the above post doing on a site for actual professional translators? This is nonsense. Translation is an art and is not done well by programs. Don't give in to the nonsense. Charge a rational fee and do yourself, and all other real translators, a favor.

To begin with, real translators do know the difference between machine translation (Google Translate, Systran etc.) and computer-aided translation tools (Trados, MemoQ, WordFast, DejaVu etc.). While a newbie may need to be explained what the difference is (and it's no shame!), I would expect at least some knowledge from somebody who makes such a patronizing post, DoeRoo!!! Okay, back to the topic:1. Machine translation is fully automatic, with little or no human interaction. I agree here that a professional linguist will never rely on machine translation, although as you can see e.g. here, this is not always the case. 2. Trados (or MemoQ, WordFast, DejaVu and other tools) is a computer-aided translation (CAT) tool. CAT tools operate on the basis of translation memories, or linguistic databases that will "remember" all of your previous translations which can be then re-used (or recycled). They can also use termbases (databases of terminology) for active terminology recognition. The benefits of using CAT tools include faster translation turnaround, increased translation consistency, as well as consistent use of terminology, just to name a few.
