Using Work Flows in translation process

This tutorial will give you an overview of work order translation work flow. Translation work flow defines steps involved in completing a work order. You can define your own work flow to meet your unique business requirements or you can use existing work flows which were pre-defined for you.

Step 1 - Pre-defined Work Flows

Translation Portals account has two pre-defined work flows. You can use either of the work flows to complete a work order. Single Translator work flow has been designed for freelance translators working individually. Translation work flow works perfectly for small translation agencies. Remember, you can always create your own work flow and include steps specific to your business requirements.

Each work flow is composed of work flow steps. These steps are stages that a work order may go through. Each work flow step is assigned next possible steps which define the flow of the work flow.

Additionally, it is possible to define certain restrictions and actions for each work flow step. For instance, you can define what user type has access to source and translated documents during each step of the work flow.

You also can configure email notifications which are sent to different user types as the status of the work order changes and the work order is going through the work flow.

Step 2 - Custom Work Flows

If your business requirements are not met with either of the pre-defined work flows, you can design your own work flow. Your custom work flow can include additional steps and additional user types. Using the work flow designer, you configure new steps in the work flow process. For instance, when you can add proof-reading step to your custom work flow and configure it so the proofreading service is completed after translation of the document by a proofreader.
