A translation job database teaches you a lot about: a) how to choose the
right jobs; b) how to phrase offers; c) how to price them. If you actively
use such a database, it *will* provide you with work... the operative word
being "active", of course. You must avail yourself of the tools they offer.
Having a visible user profile helps you in two ways: a) it gives you a
chance to show people who you are, long before you may have the
ability/resources to run your own website; b) it teaches you how to present
yourself as a trustworthy contractual partner. In my experience, membership
